Logan Paulsen tells the Junkies: 'Jahan Dotson could be Commanders' leading receiver this year'

Logan Paulsen was on the sidelines for Friday’s Commanders preseason opener, so he had one of the best seats in the house – and as he told the Junks on Monday, he, on the whole, liked what he saw.

“I thought there was a lot of good stuff to see for the first time in a game setting,” Paulsen said. “This is kind of what we’ve been waiting for this whole off-season, and I don’t think they disappointed.”

Jahan Dotson had what cakes called a ‘nasty’ move to catch a TD pass from Sam Howell, and even though Terry McLaurin is the true WR1, Paulsen thinks Dotson could be the guy who hauls in the most passes this year.

“I’m expecting a lot just based on his utilization package in training camo, as he’s the guy getting the most target, and it’s all over the field,” Paulsen said. “Because of his route-running and understanding, he can be a big feature of this offense – he could lead te team in receptions while Terry leads the league in yards. If he stays healthy and focused I think he’s going to have a huge year.”

All of that is predicated on how Sam Howell plays, and some of that is predicated on the offensive line coming together – and Paulsen was encouraged on the whole with the latter.

“I think when you look at it, you look at four of those guys who played high-level football – Charles Leno had a good game outside of one or two plays, Chris Paul and Nick Gates played excellent football, and Sam Cosmi was one-on-one blocking one of the best rushers in the NFL,” Paulsen said. “Andrew Wylie is the one you may worry about because of the two holding calls, but I really believe that after watching the tape, he did some really good things, although he overset his line against the rush of Za’Darius Smith. He didn’t have a great feel for that, but I think it’s something that can be corrected, and I think that’s something they’re going to focus on this week.”

Take a listen to Paulsen’s entire call-in above, about the Commanders’ preseason opener, Howell’s performance and future, and more on and how things look!
