What player can the Washington Commanders select at No. 16 overall in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft that will make you glad and what player will make you mad?
That's the question Kevin Sheehan has for Commanders fans on the day of the first round. For Sheehan, he would like to see Washington and Ron Rivera trade down a few spots in the first round to acquire more draft capital and use the pick (around the 20s) to take Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes "who has fast become my favorite player in this draft."
What pick would make Sheehan angry? If Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson is available at No. 16 and the Commanders decide to pass on him. Of course with the caveat that he will likely not be there.
Denton Day, who will be hosting Team 980's coverage of the draft starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday night, had this as his best case: If either offensive tackles Ohio State's Paris Johnson Jr. or Northwestern's Peter Skoronski slides to the Commanders. He would be angry if Rivera and Company takes any wide receiver in the first round.
