Kevin Sheehan: Former NFL GM raves about Commanders, something or nothing?

At Washington Commanders training camp, a former NFL general manager had some good things to say about new head coach Dan Quinn and the No. 2 overall draft pick, quarterback Jayden Daniels. And those comments caught the attention of Kevin Sheehan.

On NFL Network, Scott Pioli – the former GM in Kansas City and long-time NFL executive – had this to say on Sunday: "I think we saw some good and we saw some not so good," he said about Daniels. "I don't think we saw any bad. We saw there was a little bit of center quarterback exchange issue when he had to go under on the first snap that we saw. But, to me, I think when we evaluate young quarterbacks, we used to have this saying, 'Hey, just get the guys in the huddle, get the play called, get the guys out of the huddle, and get the snap off.' And that, it seems like it's just a simple thing, but young quarterbacks being able to learn how to make sure there aren't any pre-snap issues, that's the biggest thing. So I saw some good things out of Jayden.

"You could see the guys responding to him, as well."

On the new head coach – who Pioli overlapped with for five seasons in Atlanta – the former assistant GM for the Falcons said, "I'm not a big fan of the word authenticity, but Dan is authentic through and through and through.

"As we talked to a couple coaches who were with him for the first time, they said, 'Come on, this guy, he can't be for real.' It is for real. It is every day energy, it's honesty and players know when they're not being told the truth. And Dan is all-day honest. He's got this energy that is unending. He's got this positivity."

Pioli added that Quinn has the ability to maintain his positivity while also being able to remain honest, which is something that players love about him.

Sheehan had a couple takeaways from those comments. Listen to that on the audio player above!
