The Washington Commanders had an apparent front-runner to be their next head coach: Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. And Washington's internal search committee was en route to interview Johsnon (and Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn) on Tuesday when they got the news. Johnson told the Commanders thanks, but no thanks and informed Dan Campbell that he would be staying in Detroit for another year.
Doc Walker joined Kevin Sheehan just as the news broke that Johnson would not be taking the in-person interview with Washington and they gave their instant reaction: "Oh... my.... god," were the first three words out of Sheehan's mouth.
