"I know what the final score was, and I'm very aware that the game is four quarters long," Kevin Sheehan said at the start of his abbreviated Game Take after the Washington Commanders' 45-10 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving day. "That was a ballgame, well into the third quarter. If you were actually watching the game and not just kinda grabbed a plate and you're eating and you're talking, and you're drinking and you're hanging out with family and friends... Washington moved the football consistently on offense."
Sheehan said at 20-10, Sam Howell and the Commanders had chances to make it a one-score game, like they did in late in second quarter to make it 14-10 on a nifty option play-call by Eric Bieniemy.
"Of course, the Achilles heel all season long reared its ugly head: the big play allowed by a defense that has turned out to be the biggest disappointment of 2023," Sheehan said. "They gave up a lot of big plays. And then in the fourth quarter, it just got a little bit out of control. Sam started to press after he had had really a solid first three quarters and they got blown out in the fourth quarter."
All of that sets up Sheehan's list of things he liked and things he did not like from the Commanders' Week 12 performance, a season finale performance for defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio. Listen above on the player above and listen below for his Game Take from Black Friday.
