Entering the season, Paul Charchian was high on the prospects of the Washington Commanders offense as it relates to his field of expertise – fantasy football – and that feeling hasn't changed after two weeks of action.
"I like Sam Howell, I think he looks like a legitimate NFL starting quarterback despite a bad offensive line that's seen him get pressured on 36 percent of his dropbacks," Charchian told Kevin Sheehan on Thursday. "That's not cool. We want to see that number drop in half over time. And they gotta unleash more deep passes for Sam Howell!
"He's got the big arm, they're being too cautious with him, I understand that I just said he's getting hit too much, but just go max protect and let him air it out... his average distance of throws is just 6.8 yards. That isn't the utilization that I ultimately want to see from Sam Howell. He's thrown just two passes of over 20 yards and they were both completed and one scored a touchdown."
And Charchian is high on Howell's prospects in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and he trusts offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to figure that out.
