On Wednesday night, the U.S. House of Representatives approved Bill H.R. 4984, the "D.C. Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium Campus Revitalization Act."
The bipartisan bill that would help D.C. redevelop the now defunct RFK Stadium site, which could potentially be the home of a new stadium for the Washington Commanders.
“Tonight’s vote was a significant step forward in our efforts to unlock the full potential of the RFK Campus — for our residents and visitors, the community, and DC’s Comeback,” D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser said in a statement.
Joe Maloney, the former head of public affairs for the Commanders, joined Kevin Sheehan to walk through the timeline of this bill on the site and the next steps in the process of the football team returning home to D.C.
Maloney called it a "monumental moment" for those who believe in "Home Rule" for the District and those who want to see Washington's professional football team play their home games at the RFK Stadium site.
