JUNKIES: Should Commanders trade up for another first-round pick?
The Commanders will be taking a quarterback with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but what if they were to trade up to get another selection in the first round of the draft in late April?
The Junkies discussed that possibility on Monday morning, with JP looking at the Jimmy Johnson draft trade value chart: which shows that “Packaging the two second-rounders would be good enough to get the No. 16 pick, and they can get a left tackle before the run on the position likely starts around No. 20 with the Steelers.”
EB believes Washington would be able to address another area of need if they had another first round pick.
“Or you could take a stud wide receiver to pair with your rookie quarterback,” EB said.
If Bish was in the draft room, and the Commanders were able to trade up for another first rounder, he would bolster the offensive line to protect their hopeful quarterback of the future.
“If you’re gonna draft a quarterback for the next 10 years, you need a stud left tackle,” Bish said. “Because right now, what do you have? For left tackle, I think you need a surefire first rounder.”
