Jayden Daniels was near perfect on Monday night against the Bengals, completing 21 of 23 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns, and he ran for another in the 38-33 victory.
Daniels looked every bit the part, shining on the road against a Bengals team that many expected to compete for the Super Bowl. It was more than enough for the Junkies to crown Daniels as the likely Rookie of the Year who may just be the franchise savior.
“Jayden Daniels, in his third career start, played like a superstar,” JP said. “There’s just no other way to put it.
“I don’t know why we haven’t started printing the t-shirts, ‘In Jayden We Trust.’”
The guys are even ready to put together a massive gift basket to send to Chicago as a thank you to the Bears for passing on Daniels with the No. 1 overall pick.
“There’s gonna be a lot of products that we’re gonna be sending out to Ryan Poles, GM of the Bears,” C-Mac said. “To say thank you for drafting Caleb Williams and looking at Jayden Daniels and saying ‘You know what, I don’t want that guy. I don’t want that superstar. I’m gonna take the mercurial, flighty, kind of weird Caleb Williams at No. 1. I’ll let the Commanders take what looks to be a generational talent.’
“I know it’s only been three starts, but what a huge performance.”
EB even floated the potential “Jayden Christ” nickname, as he has felt like that level of savior for Washington, whose rebuild may have accelerated by leaps and bounds if their rookie quarterback is going to play like he did on Monday.
“Right now, he’s No. 1. He did that in primetime. Monday Night Football,” JP said. “The whole nation watching, and he basically pitched a perfect game.”
