The Sports Junkies declared Oct. 2, 2023 a “Moral Victory Monday” after the Commanders fell 34-31 to the Eagles on the road, whether fans like it or not.
“Everyone gets all bitter, ‘It’s not a moral victory.’ Are you kidding? That was the epitome of a moral victory,” EB said. “Not for the players or coaches to ever say publicly…but for fans and for the way you feel about that game, that is as good as you’re gonna feel after a loss.
“Obviously, your No. 1 desired result is a W. but no sane human being thought, going into the season, that you would beat Buffalo and Philly. You knew they would likely lose those games.”
The Commanders were heavy underdogs against Philly, yet tied the game as time expired in the fourth quarter before falling on a 54-yard field goal in overtime. At 2-2 on the year after battling the defending NFC champs to the wire, that’s a moral victory if you as the Junks.
“It is a moral victory,” Cakes said. “I believe in moral victories. Of course.”
