Junkies: Should Jayden Daniels get as many preseason reps as possible?

With preseason games fast approaching in the NFL, The Sports Junkies debated whether or not preseason reps matter for young quarterbacks, particularly Jayden Daniels.

JP made it clear that he wants the Commanders No. 2 pick out there as much as possible in the three preseason games that Washington will play.

“I think when it comes to these young quarterbacks, including Jayden Daniels, they should be getting all the reps they can possibly get,” JP said. “Remember what my theory with Sam Howell was? Throw it 30 times in the first game! You don’t need to be working on handoffs.

“These guys need live reps. I know they were in pads for the first time this week, but it’s not real game situations in training camp. The linebackers for the Commanders, they’re not gonna hit Jayden Daniels. In the preseason, he’s gonna be hit. That’s a real-life situation. I would practice as much as I could in those real-life situations. Guys used to do that. tom Brady used to do that.”

The rest of the Junks mainly agreed, with some stipulations.

“As long as your offensive line ones are in, I don’t have a problem with it,” Bishop said. “I think the rookies need to get a lot of reps in the preseason.”
