The Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, which future Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris is a co-founder, made a "significant investment" in Joe Gibbs Racing to support the former Washington football coach's NASCAR operation on Tuesday, according to a Gibbs racing press release. The move also includes that Gibbs – pending NBA and NHL approval – will become a limited partner in the Harris Blitzer group, which manages the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.

Kevin Sheehan asked David Aldridge if that means the Hall of Fame coach could be joining the future Commanders ownership group, too. However, Aldridge said, "From everything I've been told, [Gibbs] is not going to be part of the group that's buying the Commanders, there's no tie-in, there's no financial tie-in to it."

Aldridge said that Gibbs is going to be a minority partner in the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HSBE) which is not the group that is going to be buying the Commanders.

“Josh Harris, David Blitzer and their entire team have a vision that has delivered winning franchises in basketball, hockey, soccer and youth sports," Gibbs said via a press release. "Their teams are among the most successful in their leagues in growing audience and sponsorship and their commitment to the communities they work in are unparalleled. I am excited to join the HBSE family and to have their support in growing Joe Gibbs Racing."

In the same release, Harris was quoted as saying: "In recent years I’ve been fortunate enough to get to know Coach Gibbs and am proud to count him as a trusted friend and advisor.“

“Joe is a winner. First in football and then with Joe Gibbs Racing, he has led organizations that build winning cultures based on strong values and a deep commitment to family and faith. This investment and partnership aims to support his vision and allow Joe Gibbs Racing to continue its track record of excellence long into the future," Harris' statement said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sheehan had more to say about the news, this time stating at the 24:40 mark in the player below.
