What should Commanders expect from Dan Quinn? Mickey Spagnola has insight from Dallas with Kevin Sheehan

In the last three years, the Dallas Cowboys defense has allowed 21.1 points per game in 2021, 20.1 points in 2022, and 18.5 points in 2023. All three years they were in the top 7 in points per game allowed. And all of that came under the leadership of the new coach of the Washington Commanders Dan Quinn, who was the team's defensive coordinator.

But while the numbers speak for themselves, owner Josh Harris and general manager Adam Peters didn't bring in Quinn to coach the defense. He was hired to coach the entire 53 men on the Commanders' roster.

Remember, here is what Peters said two weeks ago about what the team was looking for in a head coach at the start of this process: "We're looking for the best leader for this team," Peters said about what the team is looking for in a head coach. "And so, we have set criteria that we're going to have to be aligned in that vision. And it's not going to be in a box. It's not going to be offense, it's not going to be defense. it's going to be the best leader for this organization."

He continued: "Leadership, great communication, being able to be honest, direct and upfront, half all those qualities, and they're all intertwined. But those are the main qualities. You have to be very smart. You have to be driven. There's so many different qualities that make up a great head coach and a great leader, but really it's just about being a great person, a great human being that people will follow."

Does Quinn fit that bill? To get answers about what the Commanders and Washington fans should expect from the new head coach, Kevin Sheehan spoke to Mickey Spagnola of Cowboys.com.
