The Washington Commanders will – in all likelihood – be selecting a quarterback with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, if that is the No. 2 overall pick where they are now or if they move up to No. 1. So what does that mean for 2021 fifth-round draft pick and last year's starter Sam Howell?
Well, there is the possibility he is the backup entering Week 1 - or the starter until the rookie this year is ready to take the reins. But what about a trade?
Craig Hoffman believes that despite a recent news cycle started by a hypothetical conversation, he does not believe Washington's starter in 2023 will be much of a topic of conversation this week at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
"But if you can get a third rounder [for Howell] you should do that today," Hoffman said.
