Lynnell Willingham shares a bold prediction for Commanders QB Jayden Daniels' rookie season

Former NFL defensive back Ryan Clark offered a bold prediction about Washington Commanders' quarterback Jayden Daniels: He will have a breakout rookie season like the Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud last year.

And that got Lynnell Willingham thinking about making a bold prediction of his own:

"I think Jayden Daniels is even better than what we have seen already up to this point," Willingham said to kick off the conversation. "He has looked, here in the past six or seven practices in particular, like a bonafide stud at the quarterback position. And I understand the caveat 'he's been going up against the same defense each and every day,'... you can only perform against what is put out in front of you, those same for Sam Howell last year and Carson Wents the year before and they didn't look anywhere near this good."

He added: "The thing that's really got me thinking the sky is the limit for this brother: He ain't even run the football yet. And I think [his] running game is going to be an integral part of this offense."

Willingham's prediction: If Daniels stays healthy and plays all 17 games, the rookie will throw for 3,900 yards and 26 touchdowns and (at max) nine interceptions while rushing for between 650-700 yards and eight touchdowns.

"After year one, we're gonna be talking about [Daniels] as a top 12-14 quarterback in the NFL," Willingham said. "The arm talent is what has been undersold with him... If Washington is good enough, he's gonna be getting MVP votes."

Willingham added a few other bold predictions: 1) Washington defensively will finish Top 5 in sacks, 2) three Pro Bowlers on Washington: Sam Cosmi, Terry McLaurin and Brian Robinson 3) McLaurin sets a career-high in receptions, yards and touchdowns.
