Was last Sunday’s win over the Eagles a statement game for the Commanders?
“To me, that told me everything I need to know about Washington, because their story was already good enough, like, ‘we’re good, look at what we’ve done and how we rebounded, look at our administration,’” Davis said. “They could say the fans are coming back, we have the quarterback, and we didn't quite get there this year, but boy, look at our future – they could have done that, but this group said no, that’s not good enough; there’s more there for us, and they went out and proved it. I thought it was really impressive.”
Davis said if he was the Eagles or an Eagles fan, he’d lose no sleep over that loss after 10 wins in a row – ‘you look at numbers and stats, and yes, the Commanders won the game and rightfully so, but you know who you are, you know what you do when you do it best, and when you get (Jalen Hurts) back, you'll take your chance against the Commanders and anyone else down the road.’
But for the Commanders, that comeback was a microcosm of the comeback they’ve made from the depths of NFL purgatory back into relevance in Year 1 of the new era.
“If anything, it solidified what you should be thinking about the Commanders with GM Adam Peters, head coach Dan Quinn, quarterback Jayden Daniels, and right on down the line,” Davis said. “This administration, this group, has a chance to do big things over the next few years.”
