Dyami Brown is the first free agent to unofficially officially leave the Commanders, as reports have him agreeing to a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Per NFL Media’s Mike Garofalo, the deal is worth $10 million base, with up to $12 million possible based on incentives.
Brown, 25, was the Commanders’ third-round pick in 2021 and blossomed a bit this season, notching career highs with 40 targets, 30 catches, and 308 yards, with one TD – coming into his own under Dan Quinn and Kliff Kingsbury after he had a total 29-476-3 line in 47 games over three years under Ron Rivera.
He had 14 catches for 229 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ three-game playoff run to the NFC Championship Game as well, but he had a cryptic response to a cryptic tweet from Dante Fowler Jr. over the weekend that potentially signaled unhappiness with any negotiations with Washington, and perhaps an exit that is now confirmed.
Brown’s addition continues an offensive overhaul under new Jags GM James Gladstone and head coach Liam Cohen; the team released WR Josh Reynolds and TE Evan Engram, will likely lose backup QB Mac Jones, and has agreed to trade WR Christian Kirk to Houston, but on Monday, they agreed to deals with Brown, former Rams TE Hunter Long, ex-Vikings TE Johnny Mundt, and journeyman QB Nick Mullens.
