Brandon Scherff signs with Jaguars (updated with contract details)

Former Washington Commanders Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff has agreed to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Scherff, 30, is a five-time Pro Bowler and made first-team All-Pro in 2020, at the time, the first first-team All-Pro in 24 years for the organization.

He became one of the highest paid offensive linemen in the NFL before hitting free agency, earning $33.066 million on consecutive franchise tags the past two seasons, including an $18.036 million salary in 2021.

Scherff will maintain his status as the highest-paid guard in the NFL, agreeing to a three-year, $49.5 million deal with Jacksonville ($30 million guaranteed). At $16.5 million per season, Scherff will make more annually than Washington apparently was willing to offer last offseason, per ESPN's John Keim.

Scherff, who's only missed the Pro Bowl twice in his career, has an opportunity to make an additional $3 million in Pro Bowl incentives.

Scherff has played in 89 of a possible 113 games, missing 24 games in seven seasons with Washington.

Originally drafted by Washington as a tackle out of Iowa, Scherff was the fifth overall pick in 2015 and was converted to guard before his rookie season.
