The Jameis Winston experience was on full display in the first half of Sunday’s Saints game against the Washington Football Team.
It started early in the first quarter when he threw an interception, only to respond with a 72-yard touchdown pass to Deonte Harris on the very next possession.
That alone should usually suffice as the wild Winston experience, but he was not done yet.
On the last play of the first half, Winston — facing pressure — heaved up a Hail Mary into the end zone that rookie Marquez Callaway jumped up and hauled in the 49-yard pass to give the Saints a one-score lead heading into halftime.
It was Winston’s second touchdown pass of the game, but for Callaway it was the second touchdown catch of his career.
The second-year wide receiver’s only other touchdown game in Week 3 against the Patriots this year in what was, coincidentally, another ball Winston just tossed up for grabs, albeit from only 10 yards out.
The Saints quarterback was being pulled down as he let go of the ball on that one, later telling reporters it was “all God” helping guide that touchdown pass.
As for the Hail Mary, it seems as if Winston’s prayers were answered yet again.
