The Washington Football Team has informed longtime long snapper Nick Sundberg it's moving on at the position after 11 years.

Sundberg, 33, took to social media on Wednesday to share the news, along with a heartfelt thank you to the organization, its many staffers and teammates — past and present — and of course the loyal Washington fanbase.

"Unfortunately Coach informed me that I'm not in the plans moving forward," Sundberg wrote on Twitter. "I understand this is a business but I'm still sad to close this long chapter with the Washington football team. I look forward to the next opportunity in my career, wherever that may be. See you on Sundays."

Sundberg provided a seamless transition from Ethan Albright, Washington's long snapper for the previous nine seasons (2001-09) prior to his arrival.

Undrafted out of Cal in 2009, Sundberg, after brief stops in Carolina and Baltimore, signed a futures contract with Washington ahead of the 2010 season and went on to win the job that preseason. Washington wouldn't need to worry about the position for the next 11 seasons, until now.

"After 11 years in the DMV, I have to start this by saying thank you to our fans," Sundberg wrote. "You are all so passionate and supportive. Thank you for taking in a 22 year old kid from Phoenix, Arizona and making him feel like family while being so far away from home. It has truly been an honor to wear the Burgundy and Gold all these years. I hope you look back on my time here as fondly as I will.

"Thank you to the entire organization. Mr. and Mrs. Snyder, your support over the years has been unmatched. Thank you for allowing me to become a leader in our locker room, on and off the field. Your support, along with the hard work and dedication of the Charitable Foundation staff past and present, helped me and my wife take an idea and turn it into a reality with Loads of Love. I am so proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to seeing the program grow and help thousands more families in the future.

"Thank you to all of the coaches along the way for your help and guidance in becoming the best player I could be. Coach Rivera and Coach Kaczor, you’ve been wonderful leaders. Thank you to the entire strength staff, Chad, Jake, and Kavan especially for getting huge with me all these years. Thank you to the equipment, video, training, and player development staffs for all of your help along the way. A huge thank you to Miss BJ as well. Thank you for always being so wonderful.

"Last but not least, thank you to my teammates past and present, you’ve all made it a joy to come to work day after day. Tress, Hop, you both have been a pleasure to work with. Thank you for making all the time we spent together such a blast. Shaz, J Reeves, Matty, JA, Scherff, Mo, Chase, Kerrigan, Rhino, Logan, Alex, I can’t name everyone, but I love you all like family and look forward to seeing you across the field next year."

"The DMV will forever hold a special place in our hearts, but we look forward to the next chapter," Sundberg concluded.
