The Washington Wizards added to their backcourt with their lone second-round selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, taking Florida State SG Jamir Watkins at No. 43 overall.
The Wiz had acquired that selection on Wednesday, when they made a deal with Utah to move down from No. 18 to No. 21 in the first round for a trio of future picks, including this year’s 43rd overall.
Watkins spent three years at VCU – missing all of 2021-22 with a knee injury – before transferring to FSU, where he was a two-year starter and earned All-ACC honors both years: Honorable Mention in 2023-24 and Second Team last year.
Last season, the soon-to-be 23-year-old averaged 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals.
