The pick is in, and with the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards selected SG Tre Johnson from Texas.
Johnson, 19, was a consensus five-star recruit out of high school and followed that up with a lone season at Texas where he was the SEC Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Conference. He played and started in 33 games for the Longhorns, averaging 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 34.7 minutes per game, while shooting .427/.397/.821.
He also has international experience, playing in the 2023 FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup, where he averaged 11.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 18.1 minutes a game over seven games to help Team USA place fourth.
The Wizards, who also own the 18th pick, had been tied to both Ace Bailey and Jeremiah Fears leading up to the draft, and those two players sandwiched Johnson – Bailey going fifth to Utah, and Fears going No. 7 to New Orleans.
