Chris Russell's dilemma: Would you rather have Ja Morant or Zion Williamson on the Wizards if both were available?

Ja Morant has been suspended 25 games by the NBA for his latest social media transgressions, and the suspension comes with conditions for his return. However, he’s not the only bad boy in the NBA news right now, as there are rumors Zion Williamson is going to be dealt by the Pelicans, amidst rumors of a frigid relationship with the organization and his teammates and his own social media issues.

So, on Friday, Chris Russell asked you: considering Bradley Beal is headed out, if the Wizards want to bring in a star another team is looking to get rid of, and both were available would you rather have Morant or Williamson?

Rooster’s choice is simple: take the good player with the off-court issues over the one who can’t stay on the court, and doesn’t seem to get along with his own teammates when he is.

“One can’t stop playing with guns, and one can’t stop getting injured and missing seasons and being in therapy of a different sort: hanging out with porn stars,” Rooster crowed. “I can’t believe I’m going to say this, because Zion is a very talented player, but while the numbers are great, the games missed are enormous, and I can’t believe that I’d rather take a twice-suspended, gun-wielding, obnoxious Ja Morant over Zion Williamson.”

In reality, Russell would “probably choose neither, because I’m very conservative when it comes bringing on headaches,” even if both are “unbelievably talented.”

But if it’s one or the other, it’s Morant.

“As unsavory as his activities are, and as worrisome as he would be, I need somebody who’s going to be on the floor,” Russell said. “Zion is great, but he’s a knucklehead – what he has done, that we know of, is immoral, but not as menacing to society as guns are, but Ja Morant has been a lot more healthy.”

He then wondered what the Wizards’ new front office might think, and gave some hypothetical thoughts about it from the eyes of the brass…and the fans.

“Maybe they look around and say, ‘we’ll make this Beal deal and clear Kuzma out in a sign-and-trade, should we explore Williamson or Morant?’” Russell asked. “I think fans would get over it pretty quickly, because they’re desperate for a star, even though there is enormous risk.”

And here’s the downsides.

“Zion they’d be interested in and excited about, but would think about the porn stars, and that could be a mess…but he’s not playing with guns, so he could play for us, and we don’t care how many games he’s missed,” Russell said. “If Ja was indeed available, you’re getting a two-time violator who has been suspended for now 33 total games, has a troubling track record, and could be a PR nightmare; it could work brilliantly or be a colossal disaster – and you’re taking on over $200 million in salary.”
