Bub Carrington’s rookie year will end on Sunday when the Wizards’ season does, and while it will at best end with 19 wins and the Wiz guaranteed the top odds to get the No. 1 draft pick, it also will likely end with Carrington having played all 82 games and potentially leading the team in assists per game.
A pretty strong year for the No. 14 pick in last year’s draft, who told Craig Hoffman Thursday what it meant to him to develop in a low-pressure situation at the NBA level rather than bouncing back and forth between the G League.
So, come Monday, when the offseason begins for the Wiz, what will Carrington start to work on to be ready for year two?
“Nothing dramatic, just working on a shot or two that I think I would start seeing a lot in the league that I would put emphasis on working on,” Carrington said. “On defense, I want to work on fighting over screens. It’s hard to necessarily do it technically and work on it in live action, because the guys are just so good and you're trying to do something new and they're just gonna fry you, but it’s something I definitely wanna touch on in the offseason.”
