The Washington Wizards' rebuild has gotten off to a tough start. Through 53 games of the 2023-24 NBA season and with one game left on the calendar before the week-long All-Star break, the team has just nine wins. They are just one win better than the league's worst team, the Detroit Pistons.

The team started the season under head coach Wes Unseld Jr., but he has now been to another role in the front office and Bian Keefe has taken charge from the bench. The results haven't changed. The team ranks 17th in points per game, but second-last in defense. And the overall ratings tell a more complete story, 26th (out of 30) for offensive, 27th for defense and 28th for net rating. And attendance is 26th.

Josh Robbins from The Athletic joined Craig Hoffman to delve deeper into his recent article revealing the Wizards' near trade involving Kyle Kuzma and the Dallas Mavericks before last week's NBA trade deadline.

Robbins sheds light on why the deal ultimately fell through and shares his thoughts on what he believes Washington should focus on for the remainder of the season.

Additionally, he provides a comprehensive analysis of Jordan Poole's poor performance throughout his first season with the club. Poole is currently posting negative win shares and a below-average 10.2 player efficiency rating while shooting near-career lows of 39.9 percent from the floor and 28.7 percent from three.
