New Wizards guard Tyus Jones sits down with Craig Hoffman

Wizards guard Tyus Jones tells Craig Hoffman that "D.C. is treating me well," after coming to Washington in an offseason trade. In kicking off the conversation on the Hoffman Show the eight-year NBA veteran talks about his first impressions of working with head coach Wes Unseld Jr.

"His demeanor – calm, cool, collected – and I think that goes along with me," he told Hoffman.


Jones, who was a part-time starter in Memphis, talks about acting as the ice to Kyle Kuzma's and Jordan Poole's fire, taking on a leadership role and learning about how the new team.

The former Duke guard came to the Wizards in the three-team deal with Boston and Memphis in a deal that saw Kristaps Porzingis join the Celtics, Marcus Smart go to the Grizzlies and Danilo Gillinaari and Mike Muscala come to Washington, as well.

In 80 games last season (22 starts), the six-foot guard averaged career-highs in points (10.3), assists (5.2), rebounds (2.5) and minutes per game (24.3) while shooting 49.5 percent from two (4.8 attempts per game) and 37.1 percent from three (4.1 attempts per game).
