Wizards trade Jared Butler to Sixers for Reggie Jackson, first-round pick

Another Wizards move ahead of this afternoon’s NBA Trade Deadline: Washington is trading Jared Butler and four second-round picks to Philadelphia for guard Reggie Jackson and a 2026 first-round pick.

Per David Aldridge, the pick coming to the Wiz is the least favorable of Houston, Oklahoma City, or the Clippers’ 2026 first-rounders (all of which are owned by Philly), and the four second-round picks going back are: the most favorable of Golden State and Phoenix’s 2027 pick, Phoenix’s 2028 pick, Washington’s own 2030 pick, and the most favorable of Phoenix and Portland’s pick in 2030.

Butler was in his second season in Washington on a two-way contract, and had appeared in 32 games, averaging 6.9 points and 2.6 assists in 11.3 minutes per game.

Jackson, now 34, was a first-round pick back in 2011 and signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Sixers this past summer. He had appeared in 31 games, averaging 4.4 points in 12.4 minutes per contest.

The deal gives the Sixers a little salary relief (Butler’s two-way deal was just under $600K), while netting the Wiz a first-round pick for taking on that extra $1.5 million or so on the expiring Jackson deal.
