This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash talked to Chanda Brigance, Co-Founder of the Brigance Brigade Foundation, (BBF), about their 5.7K Championship Race & 1.57 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk coming up Sunday, May 1st from 8am-11 am at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. The event kicks off the start of ALS Awareness Month. Proceeds from event support BBF's mission to equip, encourage and empower people living with ALS, (PALS), and their caregivers, (CALS), and their families by providing access to funds and resources for critical services and equipment.
The 5.7 number is special to the Foundation as #57 was O.J. Brigance's jersey number when he played for the Baltimore Ravens. Chanda and O.J. founded the organization in 2008 after O.J. was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 to help other families battling the disease.
