This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Jenny Trostel, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, (GSCM), and Girl Scout Lillian Moss to talk about their Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, All American Afternoon-their America 250 Celebration that took place on October 11th at their headquarters on Seton Drive in Baltimore and their Annual Distinguished Women Awards event coming up November 12th at Preston Hall. The new Girl Scout year is underway and they've planned a variety of programs and events that will help girls develop their leadership & entrepreneurship skills as well as programs and activities that help them better understand the world around them.
Lillian is a long-time Girl Scout who has served as a Council Delegate and GSUSA Convention attendee, and she was also a Distinguished Women Shadow Girl. She spoke about her time in the Girl Scouts, the impact of Girl Scouts, her Gold Award project and her Distinguished Women Shadow Experience. The Gold Award is the Girl Scouts highest award. Lillian recently completed her Gold Award project and she shares what that is about and how she advanced her project at Girl Scouts of the USA's National Convention.
In November, the GSCM program team has arranged for girls to visit the grottos and caves at Luray Caverns and they'll celebrate National Stem Day with a host of activities in their STEAM Lab. GSCM's Summer Camp registration opens in November and for information about the popular Winter Cookie Sale, enter your zip code in their Cookie Finder online at gscm.org and help support local Girl Scout troops.
