This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Michael Wharton, VP, Board of Directors, Land Preservation Trust, (LPT), Chair, Shawan Downs Committee and Shawan Downs Property Manager, to talk about how the Legacy Chase connects to the mission of Land Preservation Trust and also to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Maryland tradition-the Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs on Saturday, September 26th. But behind the horses, racing, tailgates and traditions is a bigger story about preserving the beautiful landscape where it all takes place. The Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs has brought together the steeplechase community in support of land preservation for a quarter century. This September marks 25 years of racing, tradition and conservation.
The Land Preservation Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which preserves open space for future generations throughout northwest Baltimore County. The LPT has worked to protect Baltimore County's agricultural and rural heritage for more than 40 years.
