This week on Spotlight On Maryland, Gina Crash was joined in studio by Dr. Arif Hussain from the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, (UMGCCC), and via phone by Tom Montgomery, Patient of Dr. Hussain, Prostate Cancer Survivor and Vietnam veteran, to talk about his Cancer journey at UMGCCC and their upcoming Maryland Half Marathon & 5K Saturday, June 7th in Maple Lawn, Howard County.

UMGCCC is one of the country's top cancer treatment and research centers and we are so lucky to have it right in our backyard. Dr. Hussain explains what it means to be a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and shared examples of the groundbreaking work UMGCCC has done that's been supported by events like this, (e.g., GammaPod, CAR-T-cell therapy).

Celebrating its 17th year, the Maryland Half Marathon & 5K is a key event for fundraising and community engagement, supporting vital research and patient care at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center. The race aims to build on the success of previous years to surpass the $6 million already raised to support cutting-edge cancer research and patient care initiatives at UMGCCC.
