This week on Spotlight on Maryland, Gina Crash spoke with Attia Taylor, Founder of Womanly Magazine, about their special issue that focuses on high blood pressure in the City of Baltimore. According to the Baltimore City Health Department, heart disease is the number one cause of death and stroke is the third, both of which can be consequences of high blood pressure. Womanly Magazine also partnered with the Maryland Institute College of Art, (MICA), to create art and visual aids for the issue.
Womanly Magazine was founded in 2017 and is a 501 (c)(3) fiscally sponsored by the Brooklyn Arts Council. Womanly Magazine provides accessible health information to black and brown communities and women and non-binary people through visual and literary art.
