You may remember back in December when we told you there was more to Ashley McBryde's music video to "One Night Standards." She said that she envisions this video as the first in a trilogy. The video was in a seedy hotel where she plays the front desk clerk who gets caught in all sorts of drama...including maybe murder.
Ok, So here we go with Part 2... "Martha Divine" This video gives you a quick recap of that happened on "One Night Standards" and then just doesn't stop. It sees a daughter getting revenge on her father's mistress. As the main character in the video is shopping for potentially "murder supplies" the lyrics of the song say "You put your hands on the wrong damn man this time."
"'Martha Divine' was so much fun to write because, (the song's co-writer) Jeremy Spillman wasn't afraid to get weird with me," McBryde tells NPR ""I told him I wanted to write something dark." and boy did they. She continues "I was certain no one would let me shoot a video that actually reflected the lyrics, but Reid Long helped me bring it to life in a way that only he could."
