Five Ways To Beat The Heat If Your AC Goes Out

It's so hot

It's HOT...real hot! Have you ever had to keep your home cooled when your AC went out? That can be a tough challenge. SF Gate offers these ideas to help keep you cool.

*Windows Open or closed? Well that depends, If it's hotter outside than it is inside, close them. At night, when it gets cooler then you can open them.
*You can Tint your windows. Window tinting can block out solar UV Rays and that will help cool things down.
*Fans can help a lot. Especially if you use them the right way. Find the coolest part of your house and place the fan there blowing into the hottest part of your house. If it's really hot, you can even use a bowl of ice to blow into the hot rooms.
*Close the doors. It'll be much easier to cool one room as opposed to the whole house. Only cool the rooms you spend most of your time in. Close off the doors to the bathrooms and bedrooms. And if you have doors with gaps at the bottom, add some insulation.
*"It's not the heat it's the humidity" If it's very humid the heat feels even worse. A dehumidifier won't make it any cooler, but will take some of the sticky out of the heat and make you more comfortable.
