When you open a bag of popcorn, you can expect to find some unpopped kernels. You don't expect to find a live snake.
A Virginia woman was doing her food shopping at a supermarket and picked up a bag of popcorn which she noticed had a hole in it. Not wanting anyone else to mistakenly purchase it, she brought it up to customer service. That's when she saw a black rat snake slither out through the hole and she immediately knew she did the right thing to take it off the shelf. The store manager said, "We have no idea where it came from. We are investigating trying to find out where it came from, but we have no other indication that there could be any others." Black rat snakes are native to Virginia, just not to bags of popcorn.
