According to a professional matchmaker, it’s a 30-minute coffee date. According to Amy Nobile, an NYC-based dating coach who charges $10,000 for her services, says first dates – which she calls “screener dates” -- should not be longer than 30 minutes and should take place at a coffee shop or juice bar.
"Instead of blowing out your hair and giving away a whole Saturday night to someone you've never met, the mini-date lowers the stakes, keeps you from wasting hours, and keeps the awkwardness at bay," Nobile told Insider. She also says when you get to your coffee meet-up you should compliment your date right away – whether it’s what they’re wearing, their eye color, etc. – to create a warm atmosphere. She also says the short date should end with an “accidental touch” on the forearm or knee if you’re interested in a second date.
