One look at Branley Gilbert’s social media and you’ll see his need for speed and love for all things including danger. From off-roading, riding his Harley with no hands, using his skateboard as a luge down the driveway or making skid marks with an adult tricycle, Gilbert is fearless, but it’s just a part of who he is.

“I can honestly say that from day one, my label, management, everybody knows… that’s just one of those things that’s non-negotiable,” Brantley told Audacy’s Rob + Holly when asked if he’s ever been asked to tone it down.

“Motorcycles, cars that go fast, guns I like to shoot, it’s a package deal,” he said. “If I stop doing those things that make me, me — then what am I going to write songs about?”
Fair point. Especially from a singer-songwriter like Gilbert whose fearless nature translates directly to his music with his signature edgy sound, bad-boy image and ability to not give a flip what anyone thinks. It’s apparent he isn’t afraid to take risks in his music as well as his personal life.
Brantley recently released his newest single, “Worst Country Song Of All Time" featuring Toby Keith and HARDY,” which has some fans questioning it’s authenticity with lyrics that playfully mimic the Country lifestyle.
“At the end of the day I think it comes down to, it’s an opinion,” said Gilbert. “We’re all as different as our fingerprints, right? And we’re all entitled to our opinions and as Americans, we have the right to share that.“
Gilbert recently put the song to the ultimate test when he decided to play it in front of a live audience at Billy Bob’s in Texas, the same state where the song was written. “It was a good Litmus test, because if you’re going to get your ass whooped playing a song, it’s going to happen in Texas,” he said.
“They didn’t put us on horseback and take us back over the state line, so I think it went over alright,” Brantley laughed.
Hear more about the song and why Brantley said asking Toby to be on it was "awkward,” by listening to Rob +Holly’s full interview with Brantley above.
