Everything is new for school this Fall, including temperature checks, masks, distancing and so many other facets. Any chance to reduce fear is even better!
That's why the team at Brook Park School in LaGrange Park are so incredible. School nurse Matt Quintana noticed that some younger kids were scared of the hand-held forehead thermometer the first week, so he brainstormed with the art teacher Stephanie Skertich and they came up with multiple animal designs for the thermometers, after noticing it looked a bit like a giraffe. Using paint, pipe cleaners and yarn, this amazing creation came to life!
Now several teachers in the school are using a giraffe, a dragon, a tiger and other animal costumes over their kids' thermometers.
