For 35 years at Western Avenue elementary school in south-suburban Flossmoor, Judy Kirby taught thousands of children to use their voices in expression, in joy, in sadness & in life.
When her former students learned that Judy had lost the ability to speak and was not fairing well, they came back ... to sing to their music teacher one more time.
Many of her former students told WGN-TV that she was the special kind of teacher who could turn their life around, so they wanted to retun the joy in the same way she did for them.
They sang from outside her care facility window and on social media ... from Illinois, from New York, from California and beyond.
Sadly, Judy passed away last week but her students will remember her for a lifetime!
