Blake Shelton is doing what he can to help and support our frontline workers during this pandemic.

On Thursday (May 7th) Shelton joined The Today Show on a Zoom call to surprise a mother-daughter duo that has been deeply affected by the coronavirus for National Nurses Week.

Brigette Robinson, a nursing assistant, and her nurse daughter, Sylvia Johnson, have been fighting the virus together on the frontlines at Slidell's Ochsner North Shore hospital in Louisiana.

Last month Robinson, though, was on a ventilator and fighting for her life after contracting COVID-19 and her daughter continued to support her mother and go to work each day. To celebrate Robinson's recovery, Today Show host Hoda Kotb invited Shelton on the videoconference call to serenade the two nurses with an acoustic rendition of his hit song "God Gave Me You."

Shelton chose that song because the two nurses talked about how much they are leaning on both God and their faith during this unprecedented time.

While they will continue to battle the pandemic, it was nice for both of them to get a break and a surprise call from one of their favorite artists!
