CEO of St. Jude, Rick Shadyac, talks about the impact and the progress the organization has made in the past 50 years.
St. Jude has increased the survival rates for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) from 4% before opening in 1962 to 94% today.
The hospital also shares all its research and findings with different hospitals and centers everywhere. Their global initiative is increasing and the goal is to improve childhood cancer rates around the world.
Shadyac also speaks on the amazing renovations currently happening at the hospital. St. Jude is always in the process of building new patient facilities, housing, and research centers. The goal is to have the hospital feel like a home and be able to treat all different types of cancer.
The campus also houses its own graduate program where students are able to learn hands-on training and knowledge to compete in the medical field.
The impact of St. Jude can be felt not only in Memphis, but all over the world.
