COVID-19 has impacted many in-person events such as concerts and festivals, as well as the Chicago Firefighters annual 'Fill the Boot' fundraiser.

For 66 years, members of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) could be found on different intersections with their fire boots collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). But this year due to social distancing, that way of fundraising is not possible.

So instead, the Chicago Fire Department has launched a virtual 'Fill the Boot' campaign!

Now you can donate directly from your computer without ever leaving your house! The donations collected by Chicago Fire Department – Firefighters Union Local 2 will help the MDA meet their vital mission of finding treatment and cures for muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other neuromuscular diseases. The campaign brings awareness and funds to members of the community to receive the proper care they need to help combat the disease.

Funds raised support life-saving research at local Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at Lurie Children's Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Shriner's Hospital for Children, Rush University Medical Center, and UIC Hospital in Chicago.

Last year Chicago Firefighters raised over $125,000 to support MDA's mission, and have a goal of raising $100,000 this year.
