All good things must come to end. Chipotle fans say goodbye to your favorite fast food hack: the free side tortilla to add to your meal because the company is now charging extra for that.
It will only be an extra 25 cents for a tortilla on the side, which is way cheaper than a side of guac, but it's just the principle of it. It was nice to go to Chiptole and order a burrito bowl and then get a free tortilla to go with it to make your own taco. But now, we can't do that without shelling out an extra quarter!
The chain's app displayed a $0.25 charge for the tortilla as of Monday morning.
Many fans took to social media to show their disappointment with one person even tweeting, "Don't talk to me, I just found out chipotle doesn't give a side tortilla for free anymore."
No official comment has been made from the company in regards to the menu change, but the Chief financial officer, Jack Hartung, told Business Insider in September that Chipotle was paying more attention to both their ingredient costs and portions during the pandemic since delivery and online ordering has become more popular.
Looks like we need to start saving our extra change so we can buy that side tortilla!
