Cole Kmet is living out every young football player's dream: getting drafted by his hometown/city's team.
Kmet grew up in Arlington Heights and was a stand out football player in both high school and also in college at the University of Notre Dame.
On Friday, he received the life-changing call from the Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy saying that the team was selecting him as their first-round draft pick to play tight end at the legendary Soldier Field this upcoming season!
Kmet and his entire family can be seen freaking out in the video and as the Bears captioned it on Instagram, "some things are just meant to be."
The celebrations did not stop there, people in the Arlington Heights community decided to have a drive-by, social distancing parade in front of the Kmet home on Saturday morning. The newly selected tight end stood on his driveway and waved to all the fans as carloads of people with signs, banners, and Bears jerseys drove by to congratulate him. "Bear Down Chicago Bears" could be heard blasting from almost every single car. It was truly a moment Kmet will never forget.
