The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is forcing many to stay home and practice social distancing, but that is not stopping Late Night hosts from continuing their shows from the comfort of their own home.
Many hosts including Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Trevor Noah, Samantha Bee, and Stephen Colbert have turned to YouTube to entertain and reach their audience.
Fallon's first video posted titled The Tonight Show: At Home Edition (The First One) has already racked up over 4 million views! In it, his wife Nancy is the cameraman and his daughters are the new graphics department (the drawings are ADORABLE!). Both his daughters Frannie and Winnie make appearances as well as his dog, Gary.
You can watch the first episode!
Yesterday, Fallon posted another Tonight Show : At Home Edition video and this time he was joined by a special guest! Lin-Manuel Miranda joined the show via Zoom and Fallon conducted a celebrity interview like normal. It will be interesting to see which other celebrities he will be able to have on via video conference call.
The other Jimmy, Jimmy Kimmel, has also begun broadcasting his show from home and featured drawings from his kids too. His "Quarantine Minilogue" featuring his right-hand man Guillermo via video chat has hit over 1 million views on YouTube.
Another late night host, Stephen Colbert has done his show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, from both the bathtub and besides a fire pit during his quarantine.
None of the hosts know when they will be able to return to their studios with live audiences, so they chose to use the technology they have and do a version of their show from home.
