School is starting during a pandemic and with that comes a whole new set of challenges, such as Zoom outages, outfit choices (do you have to wear nice pants even though no one will see?) and how can one socialize during a lecture now when it is all remote? Kids, parents, and teachers have had to adjust their expectations for the school year and it has not been an easy ride.
Morris and husband, Ryan Hurd, have become pros at reading bedtime stories thanks to their 5-month-old son, Hayes. This particular story is one of Morris's favorite to read to her baby boy because it has everything little boys love: adventure, dragons, and a tale of true bravery.
Even with the stress of being new parents both Morris and Hurd have found time to release new music during the quarantine. Morris released acoustic versions of three of her biggest hits, along with a surprise drop of two previously unreleased tracks, while Hurd came out with a new radio single.
When both parents are not working on music, they are spending all their free time with Hayes, which includes reading to him at night. Morris and Hurd know the importance of reading books aloud to children to help with their development.
Kids at any age could benefit from reading together with their parents because it builds comprehension, sequence of events, and cause and effect skills.
If you need some suggestions on which books to read together we have compiled a list for young children as well as one for middle school-aged kids.
