Michael Ray, known for #1 hits such as "Kiss You in the Morning," "Think a Little Less," AND "One That Got Away," is going back to his roots and remembering why he started making country music with this next album.

His third studio album is going to be more traditional and classically sounding country. It will have a little more 'honkytonk' vibe than his past records.

To build anticipation for this new era, Ray has been conducting live stream videos every week, called 'Honkytonk Tuesdays,' where he talks with some of his music heroes and even plays some older 90s country songs. During one of the weeks, Ray explained his next venture into classic country: "I miss story songs that you have to listen to all the way through to understand. This song is everything I love about country music -- traditional country music, like Tim McGraw and Earl Thomas Conley -- and I want to bring that back. This is the music I originally came to Nashville to make, and I’m grateful to have this opportunity for fans to get to know me better as an artist.”

The leadoff single for his latest album, "Whiskey and Rain" couldn't be more 90's country if it tried.

The music video with the rain and the heartbreak reminds us of Gary Allan and we cannot wait to see what else Ray has in store for this next record!
