Mickey Guyton Urges Fans and Country Music Community to Fight For Racial Justice

Mickey Guyton, Racial Injustice, Country Music, Fans, Letter

Mickey Guyton is no stranger to using her voice and standing up for what is right. As one of the few black female country music artists, she has had to stand up for herself and equality more than once or twice.

She was a fervent supporter of trying to play more women on country radio and now, she is using her voice again to urge the industry to stand up for racial justice.

In an essay for Billboard, Guyton shares her thoughts on how the country music industry, including fans, can help create a more equal, accepting, and welcoming community.

She explains that one of the first steps is to 'consider other people.'

She urges executives to look for musicians outside of the typical talent pool and hire more diverse crews. She also encourages everyone to call out racism when they see or hear it and not be afraid to stand up to racial injustice.
