With the quarantine and everyone stuck at home, people are finding creative ways to keep their families busy. Board games and puzzle purchases have been on the rise in the past two months and so has online gaming.
One Rockford computer designer saw an opportunity to create a free online game for the entire family to enjoy. He used the template of the very popular board game Monopoly, but made it a little more relevant and called it 'COVIDOPOLY.'
In the game, players can acquire properties such as ‘Wuhan Market’ and ‘Big Cat Rescue' and it even includes items such as face masks. 'Covidopoly' is the perfect social distancing game because all game codes can be shared and people can play it together over Zoom.
The creator, Benji Bear, said the game started as a personal project and has quickly developed into something more. More than 95,000 games have been played so far!
