Texas Roadhouse CEO Gives Up Salary to Pay Employees During Outbreak

Texas Roadhouse, CEO, Salary, COVID-19

The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has caused all restaurants to either close completely or switch to to-go and delivery service only.

This has caused a major strain not only on the dining industry itself but also on all the employees that rely on their jobs to pay their bills and be financially stable.

Most servers, bartenders, and restaurant workers have either lost their jobs or had their hours cut back tremendously. All business owners are doing what they can to help their staff, but one CEO, in particular, has given up his own salary to help his employees.

 W. Kent Taylor, the CEO of Texas Roadhouse is giving up his salary and bonus to help the front-line workers during this time.

According to Louisville Business First, Taylor has a base salary of $525,000 and earned total compensation of $1.3 million in 2018 that will now all be going to his staff. Taylor's pay will be affected from March 18 through Jan. 7, 2021.

While the CEO is helping his employees, every restaurant chain has changed around their operations and is only open for To-Go or Curbside service. Some restaurants are also offering special family packs for order and some have turned their parking lots into drive-thrus.

Now is the time to band together and help anyone that we can.
